The story
Rue Bréa, opened in the 19th century between boulevard Raspail and rue Notre-Dame-des-Champs, was between the wars a street of modest hotels housing artists and exiles who had come to seek their fortune in Montparnasse.
Maria de Naglowska took a room there around 1930-1931, after her work permit was refused. It was the starting point of a bohemian life among the cafés of the Vavin crossroads, where she made a name for herself with her talks on love, magic and religion.
