The story

From 1932 to 1936, Maria de Naglowska rented a hall on rue Vavin every Wednesday for her public lectures. Thirty to forty listeners crowded in, while others stood in a glazed bay. It was the heart of the Brotherhood of the Golden Arrow, founded in 1932, whose initiates were expected to read La Lumière du sexe (1932) and Le Mystère de la pendaison (1934), each printed in about 500 copies.

In early 1936 she gave a final lecture there, on a Saturday, summing up her four Parisian years, and appointed Claude d'Igée to carry on her teaching. She then left for Zurich, to her daughter's, where she died on 17 April 1936.
